The State marking

Each bottle of the real Prosecco DOC is easily recognizable thanks to the presence of the State marking, with the words Prosecco DOC in it. This marking is placed on the collar of the bottle, in order to avoid its re-use after its opening.

the State marking for all the DOC wines is printed by IPZS using specific security systems. Moreover, it certifies the authenticity of the product and foreseen visible and invisible anti-counterfeiting systems visibili ed invisibili, with traceability handled by dedicated databases.

The Data Matrix

On the collar, there is also the Data Matrix: a two-dimensional barcode that will allow you to verify the authenticity of the bottle if you take a photo with your smartphone!

Label guardantees

On the back of the bottle the label must obligatorily include the words Prosecco DOC and the certification of origin in Italy – Product of Italy.
DON’T BE FOOLED BY THE APPEARANCE

When it is not
Prosecco DOC

Prosecco DOC is produced and sold only in glass bottle . Be suspicious of the products on tap or in a can sold as Prosecco. They are not!

If the State marking is not complete of all its mandatory elements according to the law, it isn’t real Prosecco DOC! The label has to contain the following elements, printed with a distinctive color, highlighted from the background (light blue color for the DOC wines):

  • the emblem of the state;
  • the words “Ministry of Agricultural, Food and Forestry”;
  • the initials DOC, and the word Prosecco;
  • the serial number and the alphanumeric series;
  •  the nominal volume of the product in the container expressed in litres.

Pay attention to the territory of origin

The vines that give rise to Prosecco are found exclusively in the territories of north-eastern Italy, in Veneto and Friuli-Venezia Giulia. In this area, between the Dolomites and the Adriatic Sea, an unrepeatable alchemy between climate, soil and winemaking tradition creates a unique wine: this is how Prosecco DOC was born..
