A debut to remember, capped off with a significant record.

The season for the Prosecco DOC Shockwave3 got off to a flying start with a victory in real time, thereby claiming the Line Honors in the 40th edition of the Brindisi-Corfu International Regatta. The Maxi Yacht 90, owned by the Monfalcone Yacht Club with Claudio Demartis as owner and co-owner Pompeo Tria, repeated its 2024 triumph, but this time setting a new all-time record for the event. Prosecco DOC Shockwave3 covered the 104 nautical miles of the course in 6h23’57”, breaking the previous record of 8h07’06” set 21 years ago in 2005 by the 60-foot monohull Pegaso, skippered by Paolo Montefusco.

We’re truly satisfied with this outstanding performance,” commented skipper and helmsman Mitja Kosmina immediately after the race, “and with having made the most of the favorable weather conditions. I truly believe this record will stand for many years.” Following Kosmina’s lead was tactician Andrea Micalli:We managed the race from start to finish in a superb manner, without making any mistakes and sailing at an average of 16 knots. We managed to reach impressive speeds, as evidenced by the top speed of 31.5 knots.

There is also a great deal of satisfaction in the words of owner Claudio Demartis: “This was truly one of those days when I would have loved to be on board. I am truly pleased with the excellent work done by the crew, who managed to break the distance record after 21 years, taking it away from my dear friend Paolo Montefusco. Our crew has proved to be a great team with room to grow, and the boat, which we upgraded this winter, has proven to be even more competitive. Special praise goes to the Brindisi Sailing Club, which once again organized the event superbly this year; we feel right at home at this event.

Over the 104 nautical miles separating the port of Brindisi from the island of Corfu, the crew of Prosecco DOC Shockwave3 consisted of: Mitja Kosmina, Andrea Micalli, Paolo Piccione, Stefano Spangaro, Andrea Bussani, Francesco Rigon, Samuele Pontani, Vitjan Robi Bužan, Fulvio Manuelli, Ivan Valenta, Claudio Carraro, Matteo Groppo, Giulio Bicego, Giorgio Rossetti Cosulich, Matteo Leghissa, Alberto Broggi, Nicola Dodich, and Luca Gallas.

The Prosecco DOC Shockwave3 season, which began in Brindisi, will continue on July 5 with the Aegean 600.

The Prosecco DOC Consortium has strengthened its presence in Asia with a packed calendar of immersive events: from the “Prosecco DOC Garden” at the foot of the Tokyo Skytree to the prestigious “Italian Fair” at Hankyu in Osaka, and official participation in the Vinexpo Asia trade show in Hong Kong.

TOKYO / OSAKA / HONG KONG – The Prosecco DOC Protection Consortium completed an ambitious promotional plan in the Asian market in May 2026, with a strategic focus on Japan and a significant expansion into Hong Kong. The goal: to consolidate brand recognition and stimulate a market highly coveted by every producer through direct engagement with consumers (B2C), industry professionals (B2B), and high-profile partnerships. Highlights of this season include the opening of an exclusive urban garden at Tokyo Skytree, structured participation in the renowned Hankyu Italian Fair in Osaka, and a presence at Vinexpo Asia, the leading trade show for the sector in Greater China, enhanced by exclusive off-site events organized by Prosecco DOC.

“Japan continues to be one of the most demanding, vibrant, and promising markets for our sparkling wines—a stage where Italian quality and lifestyle find an extremely discerning and knowledgeable audience,” comments Giancarlo Guidolin, President of the Prosecco DOC Consortium. “Our strategy for 2026 aims to transform brand recognition into a deep experiential connection. Through synergy with institutions, such as the ICE Office in Tokyo, and the collaboration of 25 of our wineries, we sought to showcase not just a wine, but the authenticity of a region and the versatility of a product that pairs perfectly with international cuisines, as also demonstrated by the side events in Hong Kong during Vinexpo Asia.”

Japan: Immersive Experiences in Tokyo and Osaka

The heart of B2C activities took place between May 20th and 25th.

Expansion in Hong Kong: A Stop at Vinexpo Asia

From May 26 to 28, Prosecco DOC took center stage in Hong Kong at Vinexpo Asia, participating with a 45-square-meter institutional booth and hosting tastings and business meetings with international buyers.

The program in Hong Kong also included:

A Comprehensive Strategic Plan

In addition to major events, 2026 saw Prosecco DOC embark on a roadshow with Chef Tsutomu Ochiai, a pioneer of Italian cuisine in Japan, which made a stop in Hiroshima. Cultural collaborations also continued with the Miho Project in Kyoto and the Pocko Japan art platform in Tokyo. Finally, the tenth edition of “Prosecco Month” is scheduled for August, involving approximately 250 restaurants and wine shops across Japan to promote by-the-glass consumption.

These initiatives are supported by a robust production structure that today encompasses over 28,000 hectares of vineyards and more than 12,000 producers—including winegrowers, winemakers, and sparkling wine producers—based in Veneto and Friuli Venezia Giulia, united in the protection of a global symbol of the Italian lifestyle.

PARTICIPATING WINERIES

The Prosecco DOC Consortium is renewing and relaunching its strategy for the Japanese market in 2026—one of the most dynamic and promising markets for Italian sparkling wines. This commitment translates into a plan designed to strengthen brand recognition and accelerate market development, with an increasingly strong focus on B2C activities and direct engagement with end consumers.

The program, developed in close collaboration with the ICE Office at the Italian Embassy, demonstrates a strong institutional synergy in support of Made in Italy and the country’s agri-food excellence in the Land of the Rising Sun. Twenty-five Prosecco DOC wineries have chosen to participate in the Consortium’s promotional program in Japan, featuring a calendar of initiatives focused on immersive experiences, broad visibility, and direct engagement with the public.

New for 2026: The Prosecco DOC Garden at Tokyo Skytree
The highlight of the events will be the “Prosecco DOC Garden Tokyo Skytree,” an outdoor event conceived by the Consortium that, following the successes in Shibuya and Osaka-Dotonbori, is coming to one of Japan’s most iconic locations. From May 22 to 24, Solamachi Plaza will be transformed into a refined urban garden where visitors can enjoy Prosecco DOC in a casual yet sophisticated atmosphere, featuring tastings and interactive experiences. This format is designed to attract new consumers and strengthen the bond with the Japanese public.

Retail and Partnerships: A Consistent Presence at Key Moments
The Prosecco DOC Consortium’s presence in department stores continues thanks to established partnerships. Among these is the collaboration with Hankyu Department Store during the Umeda Italian Fair (May 20–25), featuring an exclusive “Prosecco DOC Bar.” With Daimaru Matsuzakaya, strategic activations are planned for the summer Sparkling Fair, fall-themed events, and the holiday season, ensuring continuity and visibility throughout the year.

“Prosecco Month” Reaches Its 10th Edition
One of the most anticipated events returns in August: “Prosecco Month,” celebrating its 10th edition with the participation of approximately 250 restaurants and wine shops across Japan. The focus will once again be on by-the-glass promotions, supported by dedicated materials and a trade competition designed to encourage participation from industry professionals.

Culture, sports, and taste: Prosecco DOC as an icon of conviviality
The Consortium is also strengthening its presence in prominent cultural, sporting, and food-and-wine contexts by collaborating with Japanese associations and institutions. From Italian Cuisine Day to events dedicated to panettone, all the way to the International Friendship Regatta among embassies, Prosecco DOC reaffirms itself as a symbol of sharing and Italian style.

Wine tourism and TV: the story of the region expands
Starting in 2023, the connection with tourism is also growing, thanks to wine tourism projects aimed at the Japanese public. Part of this effort is the television series “Bollicine d’Italia – a journey to discover the great Prosecco,” now also available for streaming, which helps spread the culture and territories of Prosecco DOC to an ever-wider audience.

In a market where the reputation of Prosecco DOC is still taking hold, the strategy remains clear: to build value through authentic experiences, strategic partnerships, and a narrative consistent with the brand’s positioning. Even in 2026, Japan thus remains a key stage for the future of Italian sparkling wine.

Official Sparkling Wine of the BNL Italian Open: Three-Year Agreement for 2026–2028

Rome, May 5, 2026. Prosecco DOC makes its debut in the world of major international tennis. Starting with the BNL Italian Open—scheduled at the Foro Italico in Rome through May 17—the Prosecco DOC Consortium assumes the role of Official Sparkling Wine of the historic competition, thanks to a three-year agreement that will accompany the tournament through 2028. This marks the Consortium’s first entry into one of the major events on the ATP and WTA world tours.

The Foro Italico is one of the world’s most iconic sporting venues: every year, the planet’s best players compete there before an international audience. The 2026 edition is expected to be one of the most spectacular in recent years, featuring champions such as Jannik Sinner, Casper Ruud e Novak Djokovic in the men’s draw, and Aryna Sabalenka, Coco Gauff, and Jasmine Paolini in the women’s.

According to Giancarlo Guidolin, President of the Prosecco DOC Consortium: “Tennis embodies values with which the Prosecco DOC Consortium deeply identifies: elegance, precision, determination, and a competitive spirit that makes for great entertainment. The Foro Italico is an extraordinary stage, frequented by the world’s best players and a passionate audience from every continent. Bringing Prosecco DOC there means celebrating Italian excellence: that of our wine and territory, and that of a country that knows how to combine beauty, talent, and tradition.

PROSECCO DOC AND THE WORLD OF SPORTS

This partnership is part of a well-established journey in the world of sports. In recent years, Prosecco DOC has supported numerous disciplines—from sailing to skiing, from rugby to volleyball—sharing their core values: commitment, a spirit of sacrifice, and teamwork. The most recent and significant milestone was its presence at the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games, the world’s largest sporting event. Today, elite tennis represents an ambitious choice that aligns with the sporting vision the Consortium has built over time.

Culture, cuisine, and cultural exchange at the heart of a groundbreaking project

A culinary residency program that will bring four international chefs to Italy to foster dialogue between culinary cultures, emerging talents, and contemporary visions of food.

Milan, 17 April 2026 – With the Chef Residency 2026 project, the Prosecco DOC Consortium, in collaboration with Tuorlo, launches four international residencies to showcase and transform the kitchen into a space for  research and exchange. The initiative stems from the belief that culinary culture should be accessible to all, expressed through a shared language in which Prosecco DOC acts as the natural thread—an emblem of hospitality, conviviality, and openness to the world.

Giancarlo Guidolin, President of the Prosecco DOC Consortium, comments: “The Prosecco DOC Chef Residency is an unprecedented project for us. For the first time, we are placing Prosecco DOC at the centre of an international culinary residency program, where our sparkling wines—already present in over 150 countries — becomes the meeting point between culinary cultures far removed from our own, while respecting the flavors and traditions of each. But what makes this project truly special is its generational dimension: bringing together great international chefs with young professionals means investing in the future, building a network of ambassadors for the region capable of bringing to the world not only the quality of Prosecco DOC, but the value of an open and curious identity.”

The project originates from the vision of Luca Genova, CEO and Founder of Tuorlo: “With the Chef Residency, we have transformed an editorial intuition into a tangible project. Conceived by Tuorlo, this format combines content, experience, and community, strengthening Prosecco DOC’s positioning as a facilitator of cultural and convivial connections — while marking a new evolution for us: not just a media company, but a project platform with an international scope.”

A vibrant hub of ideas and flavors – From June to October 2026, the spaces of House of Mediterraneo will host four residencies, each lasting nine days. Each month, an international chef from one of four selected countries—Brazil, the United Kingdom, South Korea, and Canada—will work alongside ten young talents selected from leading Italian culinary schools and beyond. Applications are now open: chefs and young professionals interested in participating can apply through official channels.

Brazil will kick off the residency calendar, with the participation of two resident chefs: Mauricio Zillo and Danilo Nakamura.

Mauricio Zillo was born in São Paulo to a family of Italian origins. After earning a degree in business management and gaining experience in the banking sector, he chose to pursue his true calling and trained at Le Cordon Bleu in Paris. He honed his technique alongside renowned chefs such as Paul Bocuse, Alain Ducasse, Santi Santamaria, and Alex Atala at D.O.M. in São Paulo, as well as at Arzak in Spain.
In 2011, he moved to Milan, where he developed professionally at Al Pont de Ferr under Matias Perdomo and later as chef at Rebelot. In 2020, during the pandemic, he relocated to Palermo to take the helm of the Gagini restaurant, earning a Michelin star in 2021. His cuisine is deeply rooted in Sicily, showcasing local and seasonal ingredients with technical precision and Mediterranean flair, in a continuous dialogue between his Brazilian heritage and the great European culinary tradition.

Danilo Nakamura is a writer and consultant in the food and beverage industry based in São Paulo, specializing in mixology. His work explores Brazilian cuisine through the lenses of culture, technique, and contemporary consumer trends, with a focus on reinterpreting local traditions in a modern and international context.
He has contributed to some of Brazil’s leading publications, including Estadão, Paladar, Adega, and DiVino, and manages a highly followed Instagram account (54.7k followers), where he shares insights into the world of food, drinks, and gastronomic culture. As a consultant, he has worked with some of Brazil’s most acclaimed restaurants—including A Casa do Porco, Oteque, Tordesilhas, and Jiquitaia—all recognized for their contributions to the contemporary Brazilian culinary scene

The Chef Residency program, initiated by the Prosecco DOC Consortium, serves as a space for the exchange and transmission of gastronomic approaches and knowledge, where established chefs and young talents engage in dialogue, accompanied by Prosecco DOC bubbles and their international spirit. From the host country’s gastronomic culture to cooking techniques, from menu development to the design of the overall experience, every phase contributes to the creation of an authentic exchange between visions and generations.

Each residency concludes with a final dinner, collaboratively conceived and executed by the Resident Chef and the young participants. This invitation-only event will offer guests an immersive experience, enhanced by the creative setups of partner Tavolata and centred around dishes developed during the program, paired with different types of Prosecco DOC.

The Prosecco DOC Consortium, together with Tuorlo, accompanies each event as a unifying element connecting territory, conviviality, and international openness.

Participating companies: Borgo delle Rose, Brilla!, La Marca, Maschio dei Cavalieri, Masottina, Mionetto, Perlino, San Simone, Villa Sandi, Viticoltori Ponte.

Launch at Milan Design Week – The official kickoff is set for April 22, 2026, in the midst of Milan Design Week: an exclusive dinner for 30 guests at Circus will symbolically kick off the entire project. The dinner will be led by Dmetro Sinclair, Executive Chef at Nora Gray restaurant in Montreal. Known for blending traditional Italian cuisine with a confident and conscious simplicity, and with over 15 years of experience in high-end kitchens—including his time as Chef at the renowned Salle Climatisée—Dmetro brings to his cooking a personal vision rooted in simplicity and the pure pleasure of food.

The Prosecco DOC Consortium returns to Italy’s most important wine trade fair: the 58th edition of Vinitaly, in Verona from 12 to 15 April 2026.
Discover the programme of events taking place at the Prosecco DOC Theatre (stand B4, hall 4) – the venue that will bring together the Consortium’s partners, ambassadors and special guests.

Prosecco DOC arrives in Verona with the final figures for 2025 exports: +2.3% worldwide, with 667 million bottles produced (+1.1% on 2024), 82% of which are destined for international markets. The podium sees the United States in first place with growth of 23.3%, followed by a stable United Kingdom and a surprisingly rising France (+19.8%), in third place on the podium for the first time. TThere are also positive signs from Germany (+2.1%), a long-standing market for the appellation, and from Russia, which, with a 0.7% increase, has turned the tide to climb back up to fifth place. Double-digit growth has been recorded in emerging markets such as Ukraine (+32.2%), Romania (+25%) and Greece (+20.5%), reflecting a diversification strategy that is bearing fruit.

President Giancarlo Guidolin: “Looking ahead to 2026, the March figures (+6.4% compared to the same month last year) confirm a clear consolidation in bottling volumes. The slowdown recorded in the first two months of the year should be regarded as a technical effect resulting from the strategic stockpiling carried out by the US market in 2025 to mitigate the impact of tariffs. The strength of the Denomination is further confirmed by actual consumption figures, which remain consistently in line with the average of recent years. In a geopolitical context that calls for caution — with transport, energy and raw material costs already under severe strain — the Denomination — which has already demonstrated its resilience on several occasions — looks to the coming months with an awareness of the uncertainties but also with a positive outlook towards the future.”

Sustainability, Research and Responsible Consumption

Sustainability remains the cornerstone of the DOC. Stand B4 will host presentations by experts and university researchers to showcase projects carried out in collaboration with the Consortium, with a particular focus on Assisted Evolution Techniques (AET) applied to varietal selection. There will also be a focus on research with “Natural Low Alcohol – The Prosecco DOC Experience” and the talk “A Culture of Sustainable Wine: Conscious Consumption”. In line with this, the Consortium continues its commitment as National Coordinator of the Wine in Moderation project to promote a culture of responsible drinking. The guest of honour will be the Cerletti School of Oenology in Conegliano, which is celebrating its 150th anniversary.

Cin Cin Verona: The Prosecco DOC Off-Site Event

Cin Cin Verona” is a publishing project by the Consortium in collaboration with Tuorlo: a guide featuring 16 venues across the city, selected for the quality of their mixology, where visitors can sample limited-edition cocktails made with Prosecco DOC wines. Every day at the fair, one of the guide’s featured bartenders will present their signature cocktail, bringing the excellence of quality mixology directly to the Prosecco DOC Theatre.

There will be numerous themed guided tastings throughout the four-day event. Among these, it is worth mentioning the one dedicated to promoting the appellation through the geographical indications Prosecco DOC Treviso and Prosecco DOC Trieste.

Prosecco DOC celebrates the triumph of Ambassador Renè De Silvestro, the Italian athlete and Team Italy flag bearer who won gold and silver at the Winter Paralympic Games, celebrating with the event’s official bubbles.

Treviso, March 20, 2026 – With the conclusion of the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Paralympic Games, the Prosecco DOC Consortium, as Official Sparkling Wine Sponsor, celebrates the extraordinary success of the event and, in particular, the achievements of its Brand Ambassador, Renè De Silvestro.

The skier from the Veneto region confirmed his exceptional talent on his home snow. De Silvestro reached the pinnacle of sporting achievement by winning the gold medal in the sitting Giant Slalom on the Olimpia delle Tofane course in Cortina, following an outstanding performance marked by determination in both runs. He also earned a prestigious silver medal in the sitting Combined event, adding yet another remarkable result to an already legendary career.

“Seeing Renè on the top step of the podium at Milano Cortina 2026 is a source of immense emotion and pride for us,” said Giancarlo Guidolin, President of the Consorzio di Tutela Prosecco DOC. “Supporting Renè on this journey means standing beside an athlete who perfectly embodies the values of our territory: daily commitment, professionalism, and the ability to turn every obstacle into a new opportunity. Prosecco DOC is proud to have raised a toast to these achievements, which reflect the excellence of Italy around the world.

I am very happy and proud to have been able to win in my home territory, on the slope where I grew up, in front of my family, my friends, and the sponsors who supported me throughout my preparation for these fantastic Paralympic Games. I am equally proud to be an Ambassador of the Prosecco DOC Consortium, which represents the excellence of our territory throughout the world,” commented Renè De Silvestro.

The bond between Prosecco DOC and Paralympic sport is once again confirmed as a meaningful commitment that goes beyond a simple partnership, celebrating athletes who, like De Silvestro, stand as international examples of skill, consistency, and resilience.
