The relationship between Prosecco DOC and the world of sailing stems from a connection with the sea that directly involves the territory of the Denomination, extending across Veneto and Friuli Venezia Giulia as far as the Adriatic Sea.
This relationship is also expressed through Prosecco DOC Shockwave³, the Super Maxi 90 that carries the name of the Denomination on the main racing courses. The boat represents a meeting point between sporting performance, innovation and Made in Italy, helping to bring the name Prosecco DOC to international contexts linked to sailing.
In 2026, the Prosecco DOC Consortium will be Gold Sponsor and Official Sparkling Wine of the Barcolana for the eleventh consecutive year, consolidating a partnership built over time and strengthening the Denomination’s presence in the world of sailing. A relationship that goes beyond sports sponsorship and finds in sport a common language to convey values such as passion, determination, team spirit, pursuit of quality and attention to the sea and the environment.
The journey now looks towards an international event: the 2027 America’s Cup in Naples. The choice of Naples as the venue for the next edition in fact offers an important opportunity to strengthen the story of the connection between Prosecco DOC, sailing and Italian culture, through one of the most prestigious and recognisable sporting events worldwide.
The collaboration with PLANA Srl has led to the creation of a new video content dedicated to Prosecco DOC Shockwave³. The video was created as a tool to convey, through images and audiovisual language, the harmony between the world of sailing and the values of Prosecco DOC, accompanying the audience towards the story of Naples 2027.
The content has also been developed in a 30-second short version and is accompanied by 20 photographs dedicated to the boat and the team, taken during racing moments and celebrations.
Through Prosecco DOC Shockwave³, sailing becomes a new key to telling the international identity of Prosecco DOC and the ability of the Denomination to engage with worlds connected to sport, innovation, performance and Made in Italy.
