The Denomination’s Maxi 90 took second place at the Coppa d’Autunno after a memorable 2026 season. Also on board were Lucia Dalmasso, the new Prosecco DOC Brand Ambassador, and Sarah Fahr. The Flying Dragon was also on the water, with a crew of Olympic and world champions.
TRIESTE, October 11, 2026 – The 58th Barcolana (October 2–11, 2026) concluded with a highly prestigious second-place finish for the Consorzio di Tutela del Prosecco DOC. The Maxi 90 Prosecco DOC Shockwave³ crossed the finish line in second place, right behind ARCA, at the end of a hard-fought race in the Gulf of Trieste.

This result caps off an exceptional season for the 90 maxi yacht owned by Claudio Demartis and co-owner Pompeo Tria, which in 2026 claimed Line Honours with a historic record at the 40th Brindisi-Corfu Regatta, a real-time victory in the Aegean 600 in the Aegean Sea, and, in the fall, at the Due Castelli Trophy and the Bernetti Trophy.
“We are thrilled with this second-place finish, which recognizes the extraordinary dedication of the Prosecco DOC Shockwave³ crew and everyone who worked on this project. The Barcolana is a unique showcase for our appellation: a regatta that brings together thousands of enthusiasts and carries the name of Prosecco DOC to the heart of the Mediterranean and around the world. Sailing is a sport that aligns closely with our values: it respects the environment, is powered by the wind, and embodies a maritime culture built on teamwork, passion, and respect for nature—in line with the commitment to sustainability that we uphold every day in our regions,” stated Giancarlo Guidolin, President of the Prosecco DOC Protection Consortium.

The Prosecco DOC Fleet in the Gulf: Shockwave³ and Swan 70 Flying Dragon
Once again this year, the Consortium has paired Shockwave³ with the Swan 70 Flying Dragon, which Prosecco DOC has been supporting for several years. Competing in the regatta were owner and helmsman Camillo Galiano; tactician Andrea Trani (Olympic athlete and 470-class world champion); and, at the bow, Lorenzo Pujatti and Fulvio Manuelli, who share the title of ORC world champions with Galiano himself.
Champions at Sea: Sarah Fahr and the New Brand Ambassador Lucia Dalmasso
Aboard the Prosecco DOC Shockwave³, Sarah Fahr and Lucia Dalmasso competed together and experienced the thrill of the Barcolana: special guests and outstanding athletes from Italy’s Olympic team.
Sarah Fahr (Prosecco DOC Imoco Volley athlete and gold medalist at the 2024 Paris Olympics): “It was a wonderful, immersive, and spectacular experience. Coming from a family of sailors, I’ve participated in many regattas in the past—sailing is second nature to us—but having the privilege of being part of the crew in a historic competition like the Barcolana gave me a thrill that will stay with me forever. I’d like to thank our naming sponsor, Prosecco DOC, for this opportunity, and all my teammates on the Shockwave, who welcomed me in the best possible way.”
Lucia Dalmasso (Bronze Medalist in snowboarding at the Milan-Cortina 2026 Games and the new Prosecco DOC Brand Ambassador, aboard the Prosecco DOC Shockwave³ alongside Sarah Fahr): “I’m very happy to begin this partnership with Prosecco DOC and to have been a guest at the Barcolana. It’s a special opportunity to get an up-close look at a sport different from my own and to share the values that make sports universal: passion, determination, respect, and team spirit. Because, beyond the results, it’s precisely this ability to bring people together that makes sports so special.”

The Prosecco DOC Lounge in Piazza Unità
On the ground level, the centerpiece of the activities was the Prosecco DOC Lounge, set up near the Scala Reale across from Piazza Unità. The Lounge, furnished by Calligaris and featuring the Prosecco DOC – Milano Cortina 2026 logo, hosted sommeliers for guided tastings and exclusive events, such as the arrival of Alex Zanardi’s “Obiettivo 3” Paralympic relay and the presentation of the Prosecco DOC Shockwave³ crew, with a special appearance by Lelio, Barcolana’s new mascot.

“Made in Italy” and the “Connecting People” Strategy
All of the more than 2,000 participating crews received a bottle of Prosecco DOC from one of the 15 member wineries in their race bags: Brilla!, Cabert, Cantina Montelliana, Cantine Maschio, Fantinel, La Gioiosa, La Marca, Masottina, Pitars, San Simone, Serena Wines 1881, Val d’Oca, Valdo, Villa degli Olmi, and Viticoltori Ponte.
At the Barcolana as well, Prosecco DOC collaborated with the Montasio, Prosciutto di San Daniele, and Mortadella Bologna Consortia, in the spirit of Made in Italy excellence.
Its presence at the Barcolana reaffirms the appellation’s “Connecting People” philosophy, as the leader in the sector with 667 million bottles sold and a retail value of over 3.6 billion euros.
